2002 Dodge Durango Not running right
2002 Dodge Durango 4.7 liter V8 while driving had a slight miss and a CEL (Check Engine Light). It just would not run perfect like it should.
Had it scanned and came back with a DTC P0307 code.
ODB-II Trouble code: P0307 Cylinder #7 Seven Misfire.
Before going all out on how to fix the issue we gotta KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) at least in my book :).
Check the bottom of this post for a listing of some of the DTC codes for the 2002 Dodge Durango.
The first thing to check is the most simple and least expensive solution and this is what worked in our case.
Simple spark plug change out... For a set of 8 plugs and about an hour of your time it is worth the piece of mind to do it any way. That way you know it has been done.
This successfully fixed our issue, but on the off chance it does not rectify your miss or DTC code P0307 here are some other things to check.
A P0307 code means that the Durango's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this instance its cylinder #7.
Symptoms that may occur:
The Durango may be hard to start or harder than it has been in the past.
The Engine may stumble, hesitate, or have a miss.
Things To Check:
Spark Plug
Coil Pack (on each plug)
O2 Sensor (Oxygen Sensor)
Fuel Injector
Burned Exhaust Valve
Catalytic Converter
Low Gas or fuel level
Low Compression on the Cylinder
Bad Computer or ECU (Electronic Control Unit)
Here is a quick brake down to decrypt some of the ODB-II codes and how to read them:
C codes, B codes, P codes, U codes
Format example:
P 0 1 0 1
1st letter
P = powertrain
B = Body
C = Chassis
U = Communication
1st digit
0 = Standard
1 = Manufacturer specific
2nd digit
1 = Emission management
2 = Injector circuit
3 = Ignition
4 = Auxiliary emission
5 = Vehicle speed & idle control
6 = Computer & output circuit
7 = Transmission
3rd and 4th digit are the specific trouble

After checking every thing out and hooking up to a diagnostic tool error code DTC P0113 was indicated.
Diagnostic Trouble Code Alero: P0113 Intake air temperature circuit high input.
IAT Intake Air Temperature Sensor will cause these problems.
Here is a picture showing the location of the IAT on the 1999 2.4L Oldsmobile Alero
Basically the IAT on the 1999 Oldsmobile Alero is located after the air cleaner box before the throttle body on the elbow part of the intake hose.
First Check the electrical connections on the sensor and the plug for any corrosion or signs of week wires.. If after checking the sensor the DTC can not be reset replace the sensor preferably with GM or AC Delco part ... DO NOT use BOSH parts from O'reilley or the like ...
GM, and Toyota products are very finicky when it comes to replacement sensors.. use only Dealer Certified or OEM parts..

Chevrolet Blazer Service Engine Soon Light P0440
This was proven to fix the Service Engine Soon Light on a 2001 Chevy Blazer may also fix other models of Chevrolet and years
Check the bottom of this post for all the DTC codes for the Chevrolet Blazer
The Service Engine Soon Light on Chevrolet's is the equivalent to the CEL (Check Engine Light) on many other vehicles.
Service Engine Soon Light with a code of P0440 is an OBD-II:
Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction.
Clear as mud right??? :)
The first thing to check would be the
GAS CAP !! of all things to set a CEL or Service Engine Light.
Have your local person that was kind enough to hook their code reader back up and clear the code after tightening up your gas cap or making sure the O-Ring on the cap is not dry rotted or damaged. If it is replace it and drive around for a few days and see if the light stays off...
Stay tuned for more information on this P0440 Code.. will be adding more info soon.
